Pre-Wedding Photography Ware: Steve & Ash

Just when you think you can’t book anymore weddings for 2011, along came Steve & Ashley and booked us for December 3rd last month. By today’s standard a bit lastminute.com to book a wedding photographer, but they said it was because they just couldn’t find anyone they liked enough, so they either got tired of looking or really liked us :-)

We had a cracking time with them on their engagement shoot, in fact a barrel of laughs, check out there shoot here.

Pre wedding photography Brocket Hall :: Martin and Justyna

Martin and Justyna are getting married at the weekend at the rather splendid Brocket Hall. Ben and I have never shot a wedding there before and we are really looking forward to it. Here are a few shots from our afternoon in the sun with Martin and Justyna. At the time we thought it was some freak sun but it is looking like we could even get a nice sunny day in October at this rate!

Pre Wedding Photography :: Rich and Kezia

Rich and Kezia are getting married next year and everything is happening rather rapidly, including this shoot. After about a week of being engaged Rich has travelled over to China for a month and what he really wanted were some nice photos of him and Kezia that he could have for while he is away. So we managed to squeeze in a quick engagement shoot before he left.

Despite the short notice Kezia still managed to plan in some changes of clothing so we had a more traditionally Indian look to a couple of the photos. Changes of clothes are a great idea to mix up a pre wedding shoot like this.

Pre wedding photography :: Ben and Lisa: Tewin Bury Farm

There is one major thing that sets engagement shoots apart from wedding shoots, and that is time. There is something really special about not being rushed and there being no pressure for both us and our couples. With that in mind we started this shoot like I like to start all of our shoots: with a quick drink! Ben and Lisa are such a great couple and I already think we are going to feel like we are shooting a friends wedding for this one. Just how we like it! Here are a couple from our time at Tewin Bury Farm.

Pre wedding photography :: Ian & Emma

Now the eagle eyed among you will notice that we are shooting another Ian & Emma, these guys are totally different people honest! Mainly because Iain & Emma spelling is different, but also because they are different people. The light was definitely fading but that was the only thing fading. We had a blast with Ian & Emma, really looking forward to their wedding. They’re self professed horizontallers, I just made that word up, they are really chilled and the wedding promises to be the same. There something about Australians too (Emma being one of them). I’m sure there’s some grumpy ones out there but I haven’t met any yet. Anyway check out their non-cornfield engagement shoot!

Pre wedding photography :: Gordon and Kerry

We haven’t had too many beautiful summers evenings recently, but that just means you appreciate the ones when they do come up. We started this shoot off with a nice drink in the sun (well I did anyway, Ben was driving and he is a light weight so he stuck to the orange juice). We spent the rest of our time wandering through some woods and took some pictures along the way!

Pre wedding Photography :: Stephen and Hannah: South Farm

We had heard great things about South Farm, it is billed as a “distinctly different venue” for wedding and it certainly is. This place comes complete with tuc tucs and romany caravans, not your standard wedding venue for sure! Although we didn’t see the tuc tucs we are still believing they exist and we can’t wait for Steven and Hannah’s wedding there later on this year. We took the opportunity to have a look around and make the most of the grounds on a nice sunny day.

Pre wedding Photography :: Luke and Katy

Wow, I never thought this shoot would happen! I’m so glad it did though!

Luke and Katy both work for the RAF so organising a date we could all make was really difficult. We had a couple of false starts with Luke having to fly a plane to some far flung part of the world at a moments notice.

It was certainly worth waiting for. We sat drinking tea and eating buscuits whilst being surrounded by the family dogs vying for our attention while we chatted about details of the wedding and pretty much everything else under the sun. We were at Katy’s mum’s house which is where the reception is going to be held and we somehow feel like part of the furniture there and we have only been there a couple of times. Its great. We can’t wait for this wedding, we can tell already that it is going to be filled with fun.

We went for a walk in a paddock just next to the family home which had some lovely long grasses (you know how much we love grasses!!) and then beyond into a forest. After that we went to a local pub, while Luke was getting the drinks in, Katy too us up to the top of the garden of this pub, we crawled over a broken down wall and around the corner was a mysterious old car that must have been left there 30 years ago. To this day I have no idea how Katy knew it was there, but I am glad she did.

Pre-Wedding Photography David and Sarah

You might think that the back drop of the first image here might seem a little odd, but you would be wrong. It is perfect!

Both David and Sarah work for a precious metal company. It is a high security, top secret kind of place where I imagine they make gadgets for James Bond and the floors are paved with platinum and the walls studded with diamonds (no idea why there would be diamonds in a precious metal place but that is just how my mind works sometimes). They met at work when David was visiting the HR department where Sarah worked at the time to change some details. They clocked each other, Sarah checked David’s earning potential on the computer (joking) and then the rest is history!

Both David and Sarah really wanted to have the factory as a backdrop in a few of the images because that place means so much to them. We love it when couples get involved in the creative process of choosing locations. It makes such a difference.

Pre wedding Photography :: Iain and Emma: Wimpole Hall

First of all we walked around the absolutely beautiful Longstowe Hall in Cambridge where Ian and Emma are having their wedding reception later this year. Ben and I cannot wait to shoot there. We have never had a wedding there before but we hope this will be the first of many.

After that we went for a little wander around the grounds of Wimpole Hall and even stopped for a very British cup of tea and a sit down. You know its a tough life being a wedding photographer!
