Pre-wedding Photography Barkshire | Andy & Odele

We all sat and chatted through the details of Andy and Odele’s wedding in the streaming sunshine in a pub garden in Berkshire supping a ice cold drink. Ben and I simultaneously thinking “this is the life”, great people, great weather, good times.

Andy and Odele are going to have a massive village fete themed wedding. It is going to be a blast. They both work in childrens work and so have invited all the children they work with to come to their special day. Both Andy and Odele have hearts of gold, they are perfect for each other.

We went for a little wander around a local forest where Andy and Odele go for walks sometimes. It was a lovely setting, the sun was low and piercing through the trees. There was however the very unwelcome presence of ants. I don’t mean just a few ants here and there, I mean ANTS, everywhere! Andy and Odele were troopers though with Andy kind of…just ignoring it really, and Odele hopping from one foot to another to avoid giving the pesky little critters a chance to crawl up her legs.

Engagement: Josh & Hannah

Cutting this one a bit fine as we are shooting their wedding on Saturday! But here it is our shot with Josh and Hannah, we knew these guys would be great and they were. Seriously looking forward to the wedding on Saturday!

Engagement: Hannah & Nathan Beahan, Crazy in Love!

We were down by the embankment in Bedford for Nathan and Hannah’s engagment shoot having a much needed ice cream and we were talking about “their story”. Hannah dismissed it as not being particularly noteworthy but then told us about it. It was anything but un-noteworthy (probably not a word sorry). These two are brilliantly crazy, hence our “crazy in love” title. ”We weren’t like this until we met eachother” Hannah told us. After just a few weeks of knowing eachother Hannah had moved in and they planned to have children together and a year later they are to be married, oh and they are in the middle of buying a wedding shop as we sepak too! They have a beautiful baby girl called Caitlin (who has managed to get into a few of the engagment shots) who Ben and I simply adored so didn’t mind having to babysit while Mum & Dad were having their photos done. An engagment shoot which turned into a family portrait. We loved it. Can’t wait for the wedding, the reception is at The Bedford Golf Course. We are hoping to hire some golf buggies and have some fun with them!

Portrait: Phoo and Boo

When Nicole’s (my wife) best friend asked me to photograph her kids, I knew this one was going to a fun one because Aimee, their oldest is a right little poser/wannabe diva :-) and she lived up to her reputation. So who’s Phoo and Boo? Aimee was affectionately called Aimee Boo from pretty much the start of her life and they had to follow suit with Phoebe and with only one syllable as the requirement “phoo” was adopted. In between Phoebe wrecking our studio and Aimee going to the toilet (Diva :-)) we got some great shot of the two of them. We also cracked out Bella’s Christmas/Birthday present from Tim, the mini armchair, it rocks!

We’ve got a family portrait session next week with a local church and we were just testing some new equipment with our resident model in the making. She is always a willing volunteer and the camera loves her. OK so I am a little biased as this is Ben’s baby daughter Bella. We had some fun anyway.

Its a shame we won’t be able to show you any shots from next weeks shoot as it is mainly children and we would need to fill out all sorts of forms to be able to use the photos on here. We’ll let you know how it goes though. (just without pictures).

Here’s one of the most photographed babies in the world anyway. (one of Bella’s very first words was “cheese!”)

When updating the site Ben and I realised that for all the photos we have taken over the years we had pretty much no photos of us. This is fairly typical for photographers (its the same as having a good face for radio, we both have fairly good faces for being behind the camera) but we realised we needed something, so here are a few of us really trying to take it seriously.

Really not sure what i was thinking with this raised eyebrow look. I don’t think I’ll be trying it again any time soon!

Ben just trying to do some face exercises to see if that would help at all… Have your say as to whether you think it work by putting a comment below.

A last ditch effort of a black and white conversion was all we could think that would make us look half decent. Ben is still not happy with his!

Here are a couple from a shoot with an actor friend of ours who needed some photos to update his portfolio. He is still at the very start of his life as an actor so I wish him all the very best.

I was going trying to think of some quote from Shakespeare to go with this post but its getting pretty late and my mind isn’t working at full speed. Plus I really wasn’t paying attention in English A level. I know what you’re thinking, Tim did A level English and he writes the way he does, well all i can say is I am glad only a few marks go on spelling and grammar. Wow I am waffling, I need sleep.

Our first Blog

So this is the brand spanking new Milkbottle Photography blog! Its been a long time coming (for us anyway) so thanks for you patience and thanks for stopping by.

Ben and I will be posting our general musings and goings-on relating to our wedding photography on here from now on. It will be loosely based around all the weddings we do but will include pretty much anything else we are doing too. Neither of us are wonderfully gifted writers but we sure can waffle if left to our own devices so we will try and keep things as concise as possible, promise!
